Eddie Aikau: Legendary Lifeguard and Surfer

Author David Del Rocco, a retired Hawaiian studies teacher, is known for his Wayfinders: Little Biographies of Hawai‘i’s Leaders series, which shines a light on Hawai‘i icons. Previous subjects have included Patsy Mink and Mary Kawena Pukui. In its third installment, Del Rocco honors legendary waterman Eddie Aikau, detailing his upbringing, lifeguarding and surfing careers, and bravery during Hōkūle‘a’s failed 1978 voyage to Tahiti.
