Hawaii: In Real Life ~ T.J.Maxx makeovers

Ever since T.J.Maxx opened its stores in Hawaii, stylist Tyson Joines (@Tyson_Joines) (and Nonstop contributor) has been dying to do some “Maxxinista” makeovers. The store is known for carrying designer and brand name items at better prices — keeping you fashionable from head to toe without breaking the bank.

We recently visited the store to see what they have for the holidays, from gifts and home accessories to festive outfits. Their official stylist told us that they’ll be fully stocked every day this season, so no matter when you get there, you will be able to find something fabulous. No decimated shelves! If you find something good, be sure to tweet or instagram it using the hashtag #MaxxGifts.

Meanwhile, we met Amanda and Celeste, who were dying to get a style makeover. Both women, although already attractive, wanted to bump up their casual wardrobes with exciting new pieces. Amanda, a civil engineer, was looking for something outside of her usual “safe” wardrobe choices. Celeste is from the North Shore and recently moved to town, so she wanted to look more like a city girl. Here’s how Tyson worked his magic:

Each of the complete wardrobes totaled about $100, which blew my mind (especially since a single dress that Tyson picked out for me at a department store cost that much). T.J.Maxx, one of Nonstop’s advertisers, also generously gave each of our two makeover recipients a $200 T.J.Maxx gift card so they could purchase their clothes and accessories, or choose something else.
