ETS debut: Da Falafel King
One of five newcomers to tonight’s Eat the Street brings the most ancient of foods and a new twist on the luau theme. When you visit Da Falafel King, look for a side dish called luau pita chips. We have no idea what those will be, and as of Wednesday this week, neither did Da Falafel King.

What about it: Did you know falafel is thousands of years old? It predates Jesus. It was created in Egypt, adopted throughout the Middle East and is now considered the national food of Israel. And it’s debuting at the most contemporary of eating venues: a mega-rally of food trucks and street food, half a world away. That’s an amazing arc of survival and evolution.
Yanir owns the kiosk in Waikiki Trade Center that sells those plump, fresh-fried falafel sandwiches until 2 and 4 a.m. If you know it, you know Da Falafel King is da bomb.
