First Friday
First Friday’s going off in a big way this year, with soft openings, special art gallery shows and more. Here’s a few highlights to guide your July art walk:
-The Loading Zone’s soft opening: The all-new dancer and art space at 47 N. Hotel St. will be showcasing the work of Sarah Bliss Rasul with her exhibit, “Black Ink.” 7-11 p.m., $2 cover, all ages.
-Adega Portuguesa Restaurant And Bar’s FIRST First Friday: The new(ish) Portuguese restaurant at 1138 Smith St. will be celebrating the 6-month mark with free malasadas until 6 pm and staying open to take part in club hours for the first time, with 80s music with DJ Billy G until 2 a.m.
-Ong King: Dark & Disturbed First Friday: Get a little creeped out by this tribute to the darker side, with artists Amber Crago, Kaitlyn Everitt and Richard Barletta, storytelling by Jeff Gere and music & dance by some of Chinatown’s best. 6 p.m.-2 a.m., free before 8 p.m., $5 before 9 p.m., $10 after, 18+.
-CHI-Town Pizza opens at SoHo: Yep, Soho’s getting its very own pizza joint inside the club. Stop by and try out a slice, and stick around for a Pull-In Underwear fashion show art and more. SoHo Mixed Media Bar; 6 p.m.-2 a.m., free before 9 p.m., $10 after; 21+.
-Black Cat Tattoo: Rojo featuring Kona Red: Artwork by Richie Lucero & Jose Morales, DJs TripleBypass, Monkey & Toki and special cocktails mixed with Kona Red. Black Cat Tattoo, 1111 Nuuanu Ave., 7-11 p.m., 21+.
