The first Barter Bar at Fresh Cafe was an interesting experiment in the trade of professional services and goods without money. The concept of Barter Bar is an event that serves as both a networking forum and a place for forward-thinking businesses and individuals (Nonstop is one of the sponsors) who are willing to go a bit unconventional with the way they do business.
Upon checkin, everyone gets an instruction sheet, a blue slip and a pink slip. On the blue slip, you write down what you have to trade (it can be anything from physical items to services like design, art, photography or website building), and on the pink slip, you write what services or items you need.
In case you missed this one, Barter Bar happens every third Friday in the warehouse behind Fresh Cafe, from 7-10 p.m. Cost to trade is $2.
