Did this: Arabian Nights
Once upon a time, in the fabled land of Kakaako, there arose a storied tent … uh, warehouse … wherein twirled belly dancers fast and furious, where scents from hookah water pipes drifted over golden lamps, and where people dined on a cuisine of ancient origin, from faraway Lebanon, that was at once familiar and exotic.
And those who were there knew these tastes and sensations to be ephemeral, knew that come the light of the next workweek, all this would be gone, because the tent was an illusion destined to exist only three nights … or four … because it was the latest in the new feasting experience known as the pop-up restaurant.
This is the tale of the first night.
Arabian Nights
You know that block of Kakaako we’ve been talking about? The one where Whole Ox deli just opened, the new traveling gastropub Miso & Ale popped up Saturday night and the Greenhouse Innovation Hub now shows movies on Wednesday nights?
This is Auahi Street between Coral and Keawe, Thursday night. A warehouse in the middle of a parking lot. Kakaako has never looked like this.
