It’s time once again for the Pan-Pacific Festival, the annual international cultural celebration of the bond between Hawai‘i and Japan, now in its 38th year. The event kicks off with a ho‘olaule‘a along Kalākaua Avenue on Friday, June 9, includes a performing arts showcase and a hula festival, and wraps up with a parade on Sunday, June 11. You’ll see performances showcasing various regions in Japan with traditional costumes and instruments, the kind of things rarely seen outside of the country.
