Celebrate the Beauty of Traditional Hawaiian Art at This New Museum Exhibit
Experience “Hulia ‘Ano” at the Bishop Museum until Oct. 16.

Hawaiian art is full of patterns, whether drawn on gourds, stamped onto kapa or tattooed. Bishop Museum celebrates the beauty of these traditional creations with a new, original exhibit called Hulia ‘Ano: Inspired Patterns. Curators pulled items from every department of the museum, ranging from fine makaloa sedge mats, printed gourds, a mahiole (royal feathered helmet) and ‘ohe kāpala (bamboo stamps). You can check out naturally occurring objects, as well, including exquisite plant specimens and sea shells. Hulia ‘Ano runs until Oct. 16.
