Art After Dark is back
![]() |
After a three-month holiday hiatus, Art After Dark returns this Friday night at the Honolulu Academy of Arts from 6 to 9 p.m. with the theme Mad for Modern. This event seems to get bigger each year, with plenty of art to see, music to listen and dance to and food to eat—there’s even a dessert bar!
Everyone I know is excited about the new exhibition at the Academy, From Whistler to Warhol: Modernism on Paper, which can be seen during Art After Dark. There are plenty of other activities to enjoy: In the courtyards, DJ Nicky Savage and band Clones of the Queen will be playing. There will also be free figure sketches by artist Lauren Roth, free photographic portraits by Academy Orvis artist-in-residence Elizabeth Curtis and live video mixing by Joseph Paahana of The Drop Shadows.
Don’t forget to stop by the HONOLULU Magazine table to sign up for a subscription. $2 will go back to the Academy. And, if you can’t make it there this month, Art After Dark will continue every last Friday of each month with a new theme. Visit www.artafterdark.org for more information. $10 cover, free for Academy members. Honolulu Academy of Arts, 900 S. Beretania St., Honolulu.
