Alicia’s Market will start selling poke again Monday
The Kalihi Kai icon is rising from the ashes with a temporary counter

Alicia’s Market, once a heartbeat of Kalihi Kai, has been down for the count since a devastating fire ripped through the store and beloved poke counter in an early morning fire on June 7. It was dreadful news for poke fans. Where were we to get our fix of roast pork and poke combo plates?

Today, a post on Alicia’s Instagram announced that they’re close to opening Alicia’s Market Poke Express, a temporary spot in the same building just two doors down. With permits in place and just finishing touches to go, Chris Kam, one of Alicia’s grandsons, confirms the poke counter will open on Monday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m.
The tiny shop only has room for a small cold case and a pass-through counter, so the selection will be limited to just a few poke in additon to their smokey roast beef. It’s just a temporary space until the market is fully renovated and reopened. Target date is sometime in the second quarter of 2019.
