A Proliferation of New Poke Shops on O‘ahu

Seriously, how much ‘ahi can we eat?

How much ‘ahi can we eat? For all the new poke shops opening around O‘ahu, it’s almost as if the poke trend that circled the globe has boomeranged and spurred a new resurgence at home. Notable here are the number of locally owned poke shops that are expanding in recent years, on top of the ones that have opened since 2023 (check the highlighted story below).

We have lost Tamashiro Market, of course, as well as ‘Aiea’s Monarch Poke, which owner Adam Gilbert closed to open his new Fairway Tavern restaurant at ‘Ewa Villages Golf Course. But neighborhoods like Salt Lake and Mapunapuna now have poke shops, and new places have proliferated along the urban corridor.
