Consolidated Theatres introduces Dolby Atmos

The Consolidated Ward 16 Theatres already boasted the largest movie screen in the state of Hawaii with their Titan XC theater. Well now they not only provide the best visual cinematic experience, but the best audio experience with the addition of the new Dolby Atmos sound system.
Dolby Atmos isn’t merely a surround sound system. This system will fully immerse audiences to create the ultimate cinematic experience. With speakers in the front, left, right and even overhead of audiences, the 128 digital audio channels will bring movie fans right into the thick of the action. It’s like a 3D experience for the ears and movie fans in Hawaii are very fortunate to have this opportunity because there are only about 40 screens nationwide with this technology installed.
I was able to experience the new Dolby Atmos system at its debut at the Titan XC theater on Wednesday night during the opening showing of “Star Trek into Darkness.” Now I’m not a big techie in regards to the latest innovations in audio technology, so I probably wouldn’t have noticed any improvements in the sound system if the changes had been merely subtle or too fine. But as soon as the first action sequence took off, I could already tell a difference. Sound effects were zipping past me on the left, roaring at me from the right and soaring overhead as well. It was amazing and no doubt contributed to my review claiming that the film was the best so far this year.
So with its reclining leather seats, large screen and now the Dolby Atmos sound system, it’s hard to imagine a better filmgoing experience than the one available at the Titan XC theater at Consolidated Ward 16.
