More Than 50,000 People Flood Ala Moana Beach Park to Light Floating Lanterns

Lanterns float out into the ocean during the traditional annual Memorial Day ceremony at Ala Moana Beach Park, to remember loved ones who have passed.

Lanterns float out into the ocean during the traditional annual Memorial Day ceremony at Ala Moana Beach Park, to remember loved ones who have passed. Event organizers expect more than 50,000 people, both residents and visitors, to attend. Shinnyo-en Hawai‘i will be accepting written remembrances until May 20, and online ones through May 24.
