Originally founded in 1971 in Waterhouse, Jamaica, Black Uhuru (Swahili for “freedom”) comes to Honolulu for two nights at Blue Note Hawaiʻi. Coined as one of the most successful reggae groups to come out of the group’s home country, sway to its rootsy reggae sound as the band performs “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” and “Sinsemilla.”

The post-hardcore Sacramento band will bring its high-energy instrumentals and screamo vocals to Anna O’Brien’s in Honolulu for an intimate 21-and-older show. The band’s mix of punk, funk and screamo has led it to a decade-long career with several hits including “We Own The Night” and “Midnight Crusade.” Rock out to its edgy guitar riffs over some Irish whisky or a creamy pint of Guinness.
