What I was looking for at the time
I had my eye on this guy I’d spotted around town. We shared some friends and were part of the same scene but had never met.
How we met
He called out to me and my friends hanging around after an event, so I wandered over to him and struck up a conversation. We had a brief chat and on my way home, I started following him on Instagram. He immediately followed back and messaged me, and we agreed to meet up sometime.
Where we went
We decided on an easy hike after work one day. I figured if things went well, we could grab dinner. Toward the end of the evening, he said he was going to ask if there was anywhere good to eat in the area but he’d forgotten his wallet. I was having a nice time, so I told him dinner was my treat, don’t worry about it. He asked what I was getting and then ordered the same thing, even though I got the smallest meal on the menu and he seemed pretty hungry. He finished his meal and then started eating my fries. I wasn’t done. I don’t mind sharing food if the other person offers some of theirs or at least asks first, but what kind of person just starts picking off of someone else’s plate? And on a first date?! The conversation was dying anyway, so I just gave up and handed him the rest of my food.
How did it end/where are they now?
When he thanked me for dinner and apologized again for forgetting his wallet, I half-jokingly said he could make it up to me with dinner another time. Yeah, I never heard from him again.
