1. Beet and berry smoothie at Seed
The new healthful restaurant Seed builds this smoothie from scratch, juicing beets to blend with berries, for a tart elixir.

2. Red Dragon smoothie bowl at HiBlend Health Bar and Cafe
Pitaya, or dragonfruit, is trying to edge into the acai bowl market. In the looks department, with its stunningly bright hue, it definitely wins. HiBlend’s, um, blend is our favorite, with fresh lilikoi, grapes and orange.

3. Ube pancakes at YogurStory
“Home of the ube pancake!” reads the sign outside YogurStory. Everything’s purple on this pancake plate, from stack to syrup—a glossy-as-paint coconut milk and purple sweet-potato sauce.

4. Sweet potato obanyaki at Minamoto Kitchoan
If you’re lucky, this new boutique of wagashi, or Japanese confections, will be making obanyaki to order—fluffy pancakes sealed around purple sweet-potato paste.
