Hello Sailor

Aloha Sailor's nautical apparel, accessories to debut at OUTFIT

Aloha Sailor

Editor's note: This is the first in a series of profiles on local designers who will appear at OUTFIT, a two-day trade show that kicks off Hawaii Fashion Month in October.

Ahoy there!

When it comes to style, we know you run a tight shop, er, ship, but we suggest you keep a lookout for Aloha Sailor. The new nautical-inspired clothing and accessories line is scheduled to dock (and launch) at OUTFIT next Wednesday.

You might recognize its captain: Ed Fernandez, co-founder of Organik clothing. The Honolulu designer wanted a line that reflected his love of all things sailing, so he worked with local artist Lauren Roth to create unique designs that channel both Hawaii and the Hamptons.

Break out the spyglass and peruse men's and women's cotton and poly-blended tees and tops screenprinted with nautical folklore and vintage-inspired typography. There's no need to shiver your timbers when you're wearing a snuggable hoodie that says "Beware the Bolts from the North" (a call for ships to turn and sail away from the storm) or "Sail Kook" (a play on surf slang).

Don't forget to loot the limited-edition bags repurposed from vintage catamaran sails from Fernandez's own collection and collaborative waterproof wallets made from Hawaii nautical charts.

It's smooth styling from here.

$28 tees, $30 tanks, $56 and up hoodies, $20 hats, $150 sail bags, $30 M8TE x Aloha Sailor limited-edition wallets. Aloha Sailor will debut at OUTFIT next Wednesday at 1 p.m. on the ground floor of Ward Village Shops, 1170 Auahi St. $3 admission. For more information: Aloha Sailor | OUTFIT.
