Seafoam Green's upcycled leather pouches
An important lesson from your friend Ross. The worst thing to do with a pair of leather pants is to mix it with lotion and baby powder.
Stay-at-home mom Grace Sadoyama Landeza had a much better idea.
Ladenza turned a pair of pants given to her by a friend into the first Seafoam Green pouches. The newest collection combines upcycled leather and printed canvas for a stylish way to stash everything from your wallet to your touch-up cosmetics. Ladenza hand-carves stamps she uses to imprint chevron patterns and waves beneath playful boats. Elegant arrows and words are hand-painted for a personal touch. She’s now working on designing her own fabric line to add to the mix.
Nothing is wasted. Leather scraps are used to create Seafoam Green headbands, perfect for Dudley Moore hair days, and cute painted bracelets, sure to rate higher with your BFFs than those unspeakably bad gold buddy bracelets you were eyeing.
After all, that’s what friends are for.
Seafoam Green pouches are available at Olive Boutique, 43 Kihapai St., Kailua; Eden in Love at Ward Warehouse; and will soon be carried at Droplets on Maui. See the leather and vintage fabric pouches on Seafoam Green’s Etsy shop.
