Spark Your Charitable Spirit This Holiday with the Inaugural Give Big Hawai‘i

Giving Tuesday falls on Dec. 3 this year, and we’re celebrating the national day of charity in a big way.

As we work off our Thanksgiving food comas and start crossing off our Christmas gift lists, it’s good to remind ourselves what the holiday spirit is truly about: kindness, gratitude and, most of all, generosity.

This year, HONOLULU Magazine and the Hawai‘i Community Foundation are proud to join #GivingTuesday, a nationwide movement to promote charitable giving, with the first-ever Give Big Hawai‘i, a 24-hour online fundraiser that benefits Hawai‘i’s nonprofits. On Dec. 3, givebighawaii.com will offer a convenient way for people to quickly and easily give to multiple nonprofits of their choice through a single platform. Anyone with a credit card and access to the internet will be able to donate, and, with more than 200 local nonprofits to choose from, you’ll be able to easily support the causes close to your heart and make a real difference in the community.

About Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global movement established to encourage and engage millions of people to support the causes they believe in and to participate in any act of giving. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, a time when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

In 2017, Hawai‘i Community Foundation worked to create Giving Tuesday Hawai‘i as a way to heighten awareness and increase the level of giving in Hawai‘i. The event has since grown to include multiple partners for a campaign that will now include measurable call to actions that will benefit nonprofit organizations and ultimately, Hawai‘i.
