First Look: Lānai at Ala Moana Center Diamond Head Wing
Ala Moana Center’s newest dining hall houses many local favorites, plus Hawai‘i’s first agave bar.

The Lānai, Ala Moana Center’s newest food court, opened today in the first level of the old Shirokiya location. The mall’s third dining hall will offer meals with grab-and-go options and indoor/outdoor seating for up to 450 people. We stopped by last night for a sneak peek of what the mall’s newest dining concept will offer.

Compared to Makai Market and Shirokiya Japan Village Walk, The Lānai is small, housing just 10 mini restaurants in its space. But that’s not a bad thing. When it comes to food, The Lānai seems to be more about quality than quantity. Of the 10, four—‘Ahi & Vegetable, Brug Bakery, Mahaloha Burger and Sobya—are already open, with the others to follow soon.

Some of the occupants, including ‘Ahi & Vegetable and Uncle Clay’s House of Pure Aloha, are already local favorites. New restaurants, making their debut at The Lānai, are Ike’s Love & Sandwiches, a San Francisco-based, made-to-order sandwich shop known for creative fillings such as mozzarella sticks and jalapeño poppers; Teppanyaki Farmer, which will use farm-fresh produce to prepare dishes in its open kitchen; and Agave & Vine, Hawai‘i’s first agave bar with a wide selection of tequila, wines, craft beers and hand-crafted cocktails. Maui-based HiTea Café opens its first O‘ahu location here.
