Halloween dining: Cactus, 12th Ave Grill, Yuzu
If you think there's nothing scarier than a bag of fun-size candy bars for dinner, check out these restaurants getting in the Halloween spirit:
Cactus is throwing a Dia de los Muertos festival, and what would a Day of the Dead party be without pan de muerto (Mexican sweet bread), candied pumpkin and house-made tamales? Other specials: a lamb shank with Oaxacan black mole, nopales (cactus) enchiladas, grilled corn with queso fresco, and churros. The restaurant is also bringing in a special shipment of Mexican confections and candies, so you don't have to leave the restaurant to go trick or treating.

12th Ave Grill is celebrating Halloween in its new, expanded digs. This year's theme: Prohibition. Expect cocktails befitting the era, such as the Last Word, with gin, maraschino liqueur and Green Chartreuse; and the Ward 8—rye, lemon and orange juice, and a house made grenadine syrup. Special small plates for the evening: mummified oysters with deviled Bloody Mary sauce and The Shallow Grave, aka brown butter escargot.
Over at Salt, Halloween cocktails will include a pumpkin spiced cocktail and Witches Brew, a concoction of rum, orange juice, Campari, honey and blackstrap rum, plus a spooky eyeball garnish made from Asian peer and beet.
Yuzu presents the Haunted Harujuku Halloween, timed to coincide with Halloween and Oni-Con, an upcoming anime convention. What you get for the price of admission ($50): pupus from Yuzu, like their lotus root pizza, tempura and sushi; two drink tickets for Yuzu's refreshing cocktails, such as as the yuzu, ginger and shiso mojito; and the chance to participate in the cosplay parade (or just watch).
