1. Alan Wong’s
Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a special prix fixe menu at Alan Wong’s Honolulu. The six-course meal features Yukon Gold potato causa, chilled ‘ahi salad, crab chawanmushi, Big Island abalone, onaga and lobster truffle nage, Maui Nui venison or fillet of beef, plus dessert. The à la carte menu will not be available and reservations for this meal are available only by phone.

2. Baku Waikīkī
This new restaurant in the International Market Place is serving four- and nine-course menus on New Year’s Eve. Cost is $60 and $125, respectively, and includes a glass of Champagne. Sake and wine pairings start at $35.

3. Bali Steak & Seafood
Spend the holiday in the open-air dining room at this Hilton Hawaiian Village restaurant while enjoying a four-course menu. Start off with caviar, followed by your choice of ‘ahi or ‘opihi poke, beet winter garden salad or Kona lobster arancini. Main course options include inamona-seared opakapaka, lavender-smoked duck or porcini-seared Kaua‘i venison and lobster. Finish it off with yuzu cheesecake.

4. BLT Steak
The blackboard menu on New Year’s Eve features a variety of celebratory dishes: oysters with caviar and uni ($28), Makaweli Ranch elan tenderloin carpaccio with local arugula and roasted shallots ($24), pan-seared local opakapaka with grilled Kaua‘i shrimp and caviar ($68), lobster arancini with roasted wild mushrooms ($13), apple strudel with gingerbread ice cream and salted caramel sauce ($14) and a dark chocolate sphere with hazelnut crémeux and a Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey sauce ($14). Order the three-course prix fixe—your choice of one app, main course, side dish and dessert—for $95.

5. Chef Mavro
Celebrate a decadent seven-course menu in the intimate and romantic setting at Chef Mavro with a menu boasting caviar, foie gras, bouillabaisse, lobster, Miyazaki wagyu and pastry chef Jose Calpito’s Grand Dessert of 2017. 6. Hilton Hawaiian Village
Head over to the Great Lawn for Hilton Hawaiian Village’s New Year’s Eve celebration dinner show. Enjoy a four-course dinner of sashimi salad, Pacific crab and kabocha pumpkin bisque, petite filet mignon and butter-poached Maine lobster, and a chocolate tasting trio—plus performances by Henry Kapono and Dukes of Surf, as well as a fireworks finale over the lagoon.

The New Year’s Eve buffet dinner at Kai Market offers Hawaiian pork lau lau, Southern king crab legs, wok-tossed Manila clams and salt-and-pepper-style Kaua‘i shrimp, to name a few. Two seating times are available for both indoor and outdoor tables, with the second seating for ages 21 and older only, as it includes entrance to the New Year’s Eve party at RumFire.

Savor some modern American cuisine this New Year’s Eve with a three-course prix fixe dinner of Nalo greens or tomato basil bisque, followed by braised short ribs and shrimp, grilled Angus beef rib-eye or the catch of the day. For dessert, choose from piña colada crème brûlée, a doughnut split sundae or homemade bread pudding. It’s called a New Year’s Eve Sparkling Celebration for a reason. The tasting menu at Mahina & Sun’s, crafted by executive chef Erik Leong, starts with a complimentary glass of Champagne and live music. Dish options for the three-course meal include lamb ragu pasta, grilled pork loin with polenta and collard greens, fresh catch with white beans and a green olive tapenade and a chocolate-espresso panna cotta. Vegetarian options available. Cost is $85 per person.

11. North Shore Kula Grille

This Downtown restaurant is serving a special New Year’s Eve prix fixe menu with a 120-day dry-aged striploin—aged in house, a project executive chef/owner Kevin Lee has been working on since opening the restaurant this summer. The steak is accompanied with fresh black winter truffles on a shiitake lasagna. The signature agedashi XO turnip cake is topped with Osetra caviar—extra fancy!—and the chocolate haupia dessert comes with a 24-karat gold leaf. Chili king crab on vermicelli and seared scallops are also on the menu, and the popular foie gras cannoli is back. Cost is $225 per person and seating is limited. Reservations are required.

14. Plumeria Beach House
Eat to your heart’s content at Plumeria Beach House’s New Year’s Eve buffet. With everything from ‘ahi sashimi and poached lobster tails to roasted beef tenderloin and Dijon herb-crusted rack of lamb—plus more than a dozen desserts—there’s something for everyone. If you can’t make it the night before, brunch is available on New Year’s Day. Plumeria Beach House will be offering a plethora of salad, seafood and hot selections, as well as breakfast specialties, carving and omelet stations, three different soups and a dessert bar. The dinner buffet on New Year’s Day varies a bit from the previous day’s offerings, but the selections are delicious nonetheless. Choose from a large salad and seafood menu, plus lobster risotto, Vermont maple and Dijon-glazed ham, Hāmākua mushroom whipped potatoes and more.

15. Rainbow Lānai
Hilton Hawaiian Village’s Rainbow Lānai dinner buffet will be serving up a selection of special offerings, including steamed snow crab legs, citrus-roasted salmon and rosemary-seared chicken breast. It also includes an array of salads and desserts, as well as a carving station with prime rib.

16. Roy’s Beach House

Roy’s Beach House at Turtle Bay is serving special New Year’s Eve dishes on Sunday only, including seared onaga on yakisoba ($85), ducks two ways with house-cured bacon and Hanalei poi ($68), macadamia nut-crusted local catch with asparagus and lobster essence ($75), filet mignon and lobster tempura ($100) and a 20-ounce prime rib-eye with cheddar potatoes and truffle compound butter ($130). Some Roy’s favorites are also on this menu, including braised beef short ribs ($68) and the popular misoyaki butterfish ($80). For dessert, choose between a seasonal Japanese persimmon tart or Champagne with Pop Rocks. Or both!

Begin 2018 high above Waikīkī with a prix fixe dinner at the Top of Waikīkī. 18. Vino Italian Tapas & Wine Bar
The last BYOB Dinner of 2017—and it’s all about the big and bold wines! Vino chef Keith Endo has created a menu specifically for robust vints: a trio of antipasti; pan-seared, bacon-wrapped scallops; sous vide striploin with grilled squash and Tuscan mashed potatoes; and a chocolate panna cotta with strawberry sorbet. Cost is $52 per person. Dinner starts promptly at 5 p.m. Reservations only. And remember—it’s BYOB.
