Biting Commentary 2012 Favorites

Tis the season to look back at the year, so I'm browsing previous Biting Commentary posts to remind me of some of my favorite eating experiences in this town:

Oxtail soup roundup

This attracted lots of comments from readers on their favorite bowls. Unfortunately, I've been behind in my oxtail soup research, so I have yet to tackle many of your suggestions. But now the weather is turning chilly, I'm sure to hit them soon and give an update.

Sunday football breakfasts

I don't watch football, but I love breakfast, so that's how I found myself at sports bars at 6 a.m. among rabid football fans. Suddenly, I find myself caring when football season ends.

The Feral Pig

If you find yourself on Kauai anytime soon, stop by here. It's by the airport, so there's no excuse.

Laotian food at S&T Thai

Most of the Thai food in Honolulu is cooked by Laotians. So where to get Laotian food?

Rent a shave ice machine

Throw the coolest party, literally, by renting a shave ice machine.

Vintage Cave dishes and techniques

Honolulu's newest, most expensive restaurant opens and one chef says the menu is the highest caliber in town. A look at the techniques on the plate.
