Le Dîner en Blanc recalls the elegance and glamor of high French society. Each year, thousands of friends, dressed in white evening attire, gather for a chic picnic in one of Honolulu’s public spaces, which is revealed to guests at the last minute. The winner will also receive a beautiful floral arrangement, courtesy of J’Adore Floral Designs, to decorate his or her table.

Choose Flowers You Can Reuse

Why choose flowers that you can use for just a few hours? We recommend picking something with a longer shelf life, such as white cymbidium orchids, since they can last for days. Simply bring them home, recut them and put them in fresh water, and you have a great reminder of your evening!

Nothing Too Fragrant

Don’t pick any flowers that have a strong fragrance. Since Le Dîner en Blanc is a dining event, you won’t want to bring anything to your table—including fragrant candles—that could affect the flavor of your meal.

Know Your Setting

For a square table (like those used at Le Dîner en Blanc) you can use either round or square vases. Remember to keep in mind the height of your arrangement. You don’t want your centerpiece to block your view of one another or impede conversation.

Stay Seasonal

If you’re on a budget, keep a look out for what is local and in season. During the summer months, hydrangeas, irises, gerbera daisies, roses and lilies might be cheaper than other flowers.
