The Keiki Ho’olaule’a is on Saturday, Sept. 15, in Pearlridge Center, featuring free entertainment for families.

Keiki Ho’olaule’a

Pearlridge Center will host the Keiki Ho’olaule’a, an afternoon of free activities, kid-friendly arts and crafts and entertainment as part of the month-long Aloha Festivals. Hands-on crafts include mini flower arranging, ti-leaf lei making, making fish by weaving coconut leaves and sand art with the Girls Scouts of America. Keiki and kupuna ID will be available. Don’t forget to visit the uptown mainstage from 12:30 to 2 p.m. for the Keiki Pu Ha‘ahea showcasing kids with the best conch-shelling blowing techniques. The keiki hoʻolauleʻa precedes the Waikīkī Hoʻolaulea block party on Sept. 22, and the floral parade on Kalākaua Avenue on Sept. 29.

K9 and Keiki Carnival

A canine coronation and costume contest will be highlights of the fundraiser for the Fur-Angel Foundation, a nonprofit that helps dogs and educates keiki about animal care. At 11:30 a.m., top dogs will be crowned the K9 Carnival king and queen, followed by a dog-training demonstration at noon. The best trick contest and best-dressed superhero ‘ohana contest for dogs and their humans will be from 1:15 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. In addition, there will be food for sale (for humans and their pets), and free keiki games and entertainment. The group requests that all dogs be on non-retractable leashes.

Sunset Mele and Night Market

The Hawaiʻi Convention Center will open its doors to the public on Friday. The free event will have local food, shopping and musical entertainment by Hoʻokena, Mango Season, IZIK, and more. Concessions will include cotton candy, musubi, kettle popcorn, coffee and Filipino foods. For kids, the highlight of the evening will be the 6 p.m. free screening of JUMANJI: Welcome to the Jungle in the amphitheater-style Liliʻu Theater, Room 301. For $30, participants can make two air plants to take home. Registration for the workshop is required.

B.R.A.V.E. Hawai’i Family Fun Walk

Join the fight against childhood bullying at this fun run happening at Wet ʻn’ Wild Hawai’i. The inaugural walk/fundraiser for the nonprofit B.R.A.V.E. (an acronym for Be Respectful and Value Everyone) will have live music, family-friendly vendors and access to the waterpark. The group’s founder, Mahealani Sims-Tulba, is the daughter of radio personality Augie Tulba, and a 2018 winner of the national Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. Dr. Seuss’s The Cat In the Hat

Dr. Seuss’s classic children’s book comes to life on stage in a wacky adventure of Sally, her brother and The Cat in the Hat. The story takes a messy turn when the notorious duo, Thing 1 and Thing 2, joins the trio, creating mayhem in the house. The Sunday, Sept. 23, show at 2 p.m. is suitable for younger keiki with early bedtimes.
