Rhea Lana’s
Twice a year, Rhea Lana’s comes to Honolulu to host a consignment sale of kids’ items. Starting this Saturday, you can shop for gently used (and clean!) toys, clothes, books, strollers, cribs and other equipment. The public sale officially starts Saturday, however, a special pre-sale for moms-to-be will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Whatever day you decide to go, you’ll want to leave your keiki with a sitter—so you can shop in peace.

University of Hawai‘i Season Opener
Did you miss the L.A. Rams vs. Dallas Cowboys pre-season game last weekend? Catch more football fever this Saturday when the Hawaiʻi Rainbow Warriors play the Arizona Wildcats of the Pac-12 Conference. The season opener will pay tribute to the late football coach Dick Tomey, who led Arizona and Hawaiʻi teams for more than 30 years combined. Tomey’s son and widow will lead the pre-game coin toss, and the halftime show will feature singer Henry Kapono and a slideshow of Tomey. Parking at the stadium opens at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., depending on the gates, and the turnstiles open at 3 p.m. Need to keep your kids entertained before the game? The Xtreme Fun Zone—with free rides, bounce houses, football tosses and other activities—opens at noon.

To get into the spirit, you can also borrow free yukatas (light kimonos) at the event. Cop on Top
The “Cop on Top” event—where law enforcement officers stand atop 10-foot scaffolds to raise money for Special Olympics Hawaiʻi—can be a teaching moment for kids. Not only do your little ones get to see police volunteering for a good cause, but they can learn about special athletes with disabilities. Find the off-duty cops from Friday to Sunday at 10 locations: Sam’s Club in Pearl City and Honolulu; Walmart stores in Kunia, Mililani, Pearl City and Honolulu; Salt Lake Shopping Center; Hawaiʻi Kai Shopping Center; Waikīkī Beach and Waimalu Plaza.
