YIREH Shorts Now at MORI and Liliko‘i
Proceeds from these hippie-chic pieces go to a good cause.

You’re on a Mother Teresa kick this week. You gave your bratty niece the last scoop of gelato, you didn’t flip off the d-bag on King Street during the morning commute, and you’re letting the bf pick what’s for dinner tonight—even if it’s a grease feast that makes you break out for days. Talk about sainthood.
You’re glowing with kindness, so why not reward yourself in kind? Shopping for one of the jumpers or shorts from boho-hip line YIREH, now available at MORI in Ward Village and Liliko‘i in Kāhala Mall, is just the kind of feel-good factor we’re talking about. Especially since picking up one of these fashionable finds pulls double duty in the do-good department: Designer Emily Valdez donates 10 percent of her profits to help families and small businesses in Asia.
Wanderlusting Valdez, who is also a nanny and a student at University of Hawai‘i, started this stylish support network during one of her many trips to Indonesia. After meeting a family of artisans in need, she hired them to help her launch a collection of her designs. The pieces sold like hot cakes in the states.
And it’s not hard to see why. Designed for the traveling girl with a heart, these easy-to-wear pieces are low-maintenance enough to hit any road, with high-impact prints and colors. Release your inner hippie with bell-sleeved mini dresses, pom-pom-lined playsuits or loose harem pants. Valdez’s tastes in prints are gloriously exotic: Think curlicue-heavy Southeast Asian florals in coral, or earth-toned geometrics sporting sun-inspired shapes.
The latest to make nice in the YIREH collective? Pantai shorts, flirty little rayon numbers with elastic waistbands and side-tie sashes. Made with handpicked Indonesian fabrics featuring ornate radial prints, these sassy shorts come in a rainbow of color combinations, from icy teal and electric purple to understated mauve accented with chocolate.
Sounds pretty nice, right?
