Well appointed in Waikiki

A view from The Windsor's rooftop Sky Terrace
When it comes to a condominium with high-end amenities and well appointed common areas, my first thought generally isn’t Waikiki. Space is typically at a premium, so amenities are often few and an included parking space is rare. Guest stalls? One can dream.
However, The Windsor, converted in 2004 from the Hobron Hotel and completely remodeled, comes with a number of perks that could rival some of the buildings downtown and in Kakaako. Here’s a sampling: For the bibliophiles, there’s a library in the lobby. A fitness center, pool and barbecue area can be found on the mezzanine level. There’s also a putting green and a Jacuzzi on the fifth floor. The rooftop Sky Terrace boasts dramatic 360-degree views and has a kitchen, bar and barbecue area. (The maintenance fee, which includes cable TV, is a reasonable $427 a month.)

Yesterday, at the first open house for this ninth-floor, one-bedroom condo, realtor Matt Brummel of Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties told me a couple looking for an investment commented that the amenities, particularly the Sky Terrace, were nicer than where they live. When he asked where that was, they said, “Hokua.” Hmmm.

Amenities aside, inside the 625-square-feet unit, the kitchen and bathroom have been outfitted with granite countertops and hardwood cabinets. All the windows in the living/dining and kitchen areas give the apartment a spacious feel. There are A/C wall units for really sticky days, but you will likely not need them.

“When you open the windows in the living room and kitchen, the unit gets a really nice cross breeze that keeps it cool all afternoon,” says Brummel. “Plus you can hear the sound of the waterfalls in the entry walkway.”
Fuzz factor: The property is pet-friendly. But you'll need to check specifics on how many or if there's a weight limit.

One stall in secured parking is included in the price. There are six guest stalls, plus three stalls for vendors and a loading zone for moving.
You can check out the condo for yourself at Wednesday’s brokers’ open house from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (it’s open to the public) or Sunday, Sept. 2, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Click here for details.
