No Junk in This Trunk
What: Shasa Emporium’s trunk show featuring the summer 2008 collection from Indah , the line designed by Libby De Santis, a Kaua‘i girl who runs the label from her home in Bali. At the four-hour shopping party, Shasa is serving up complimentary refreshments, a live DJ, discounts off everything in the entire store (even additional markdowns on clearance items), and gifts with purchases made during the party.

Flavor of the Month
What: The annual three day eat-a-thon at Honolulu Hale is a chance to taste some of the 40 dishes from 13 restaurants that will be serving small plates. There’s also live entertainment, chef cook-offs, a wine tent, and 1,000 newly added seats at umbrella tables.
When: Friday, 5 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 10 p.m.; Sunday noon to 6 p.m.

Paws Celebre
What: The Pet Spot at Ward Warehouse is celebrating its first birthday by giving away more than $10,000 in prizes, including a pure-bred puppy worth up to $2,500. Other giveaways include the “Doggie Decadence” fashion show with dogs in two weight categories (under 70 pounds, and over 70 pounds) competing for “cutest outfit,” judged by audience applause. There’s also the “Is Your Dog A Pig?” contest to see which dog (in each of the weight categories) can wolf down food the fastest. Winners receive a one-year supply of dog food from The Pet Spot. A new exhibit featuring an all-wood, double-hulled Hawaiian voyaging canoe is unveiled Friday, and Hawai‘i residents get free admission on Saturday afternoon. Kama‘aina get discounts in the gift shop too, and can stay for a free performance by Willie K.When:Saturday, beginning at 3 p.m., admission waived with a Hawai‘i photo ID.
