Wearin' of the Green
With you, green is always in fashion – not just today.
You and your eco-aware friends are always shopping for the latest in sustainable, environmentally friendly clothing.
Lucky for you the one-year-old Big Island clothing brand The Organik is bringing its 2008 collection of T-shirts, hoodies, and other casual wear to O‘ahu for a fashion show tonight at Hard Rock Café.
The Organik’s comfortable basics come with a special pedigree. Each top is printed with an original graphic created by the brand’s founders, and the designs are screened by hand onto the shirts with water-based inks.
But more noteworthy are the sustainable fabrics used to make the shirts and hoodies. Owners Ed Fernandez and Brian Jones have sourced materials made with the highest environmental standards. Choose a 100-percent organic cotton fabric manufactured using exclusively wind and solar power. Or pick the bamboo and organic cotton blend, or even an unusual polyester fabric spun from recycled plastic water bottles.
Talk about green sleeves.
