VINO night with Bruce Neyers

On Saturday, August 15th, Vino Italian Tapas will host "A Night with Bruce Neyers," an opportunity to meet, taste and dine with winemaker Bruce Neyers.

"A Night with Bruce Neyers" will follow the same format as other VINO winemaker dinner nights, with two seperate events. A tasting first at 5:30 p.m. followed by set course "Communal Table" dinner pairing selected wines with chef Keith Endo’s food.

The 5:30 p.m. wine tasting will feature five of Neyers’ TOP (single vineyard) wines. Here’s the list along with tasting notes from Chuck:

  •  2006 Zinfandel “Pato Vineyard”
    "a fabulous, highly vinous, yet surprisingly un-heavy, suave Zin produced from 108 year old vines out in Contra Costa"
  • 2005 Syrah “Old Lakeville Road” 
    "a magnificent, totally breakthrough, provocative Syrah produced from a steep Sonoma Coast vineyard, planted with French vine selections"
  • 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon “AME”
    the crown jewel of this estate—majestic, regal & full of class
  • 2006 Chardonnay “Il Novillero”
    a full throttle, dramatic, stony, single vineyard Chardonnay
  • 2006 Chardonnay “Thieriot Vineyard” "
    "a much more ethereal, quietly exotic, superstar Chardonnay from a superstar Sonoma Coast vineyard"

The cost is $45 a person (not including tax & gratuity) and is by reservations only.

 Then at 7:30 p.m. the room will be cleared and re-set for the communal table format dinner featuring three wines from the Kermit Lynch portfolio paired with a four-course menu desinged by chef Keith Endo.

Here’s a look at the menu and pairings:

  • VINO Bressola “Roll”
    Paired with a 2005 Domaine Chanteleuserie Bourgueil “Vieilles Vignes” (4 ounces)
  • Keith’s Homemade Linguine with Mudica Crusted Snapper
    Paired with a 2004 Colin-Deleger Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru “En Remilly” (4 ounces)
  • Joanne’s Chicken Cacciatore
    Paired with a
    2003 Domaine Tempier Bandol “La Tourtine” (4 ounces)
  • Dessert to be announced

The “Communal Table” format is 2 tables of 10 people each and the event is by reservations only for $75 a person (not including tax or gratuity).

On Wednesday, August 26th. VINO will host it’s next "Winetasting with Chuck" event starting at 6 p.m. promptly. It’s a chance to enjoy a glass of wine with Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya and taste and learn more about wine.

The tasting will attempt to have tasters gain a better understand the wines of Burgundy, France.

Burgundy produces some of the world’s greatest and therefore some of the priciest wines in the world too. The tasting will include 6 wines from the area:

  • 2004 Domaine LaRoche Chablis Grand Cru “Les Blanchots”
  • 2004 Philippe Colin St Aubin Premier Cru “Les Combes”
  • 2004 Robert Denogent St Veran “Les Pommards Vieilles Vignes”
  • 2007 Jean Thevenet Morgon “Vieilles Vignes”
  • 2006 Aubert deVillaine Mercurey “Les Montots”
