It’s 5:45 pm. The report you’re furiously pounding away at was due at five and you’re meeting the girls for cocktails at six. Looks like you’re going straight to the bar with limp post-work hair.
Not so fast, sister. With a few easy-to-stash-in-your-desk tools and a bit of insider know-how, your 'do can go from weary to wow.
Here, stylist Joslyn Basilio from Salon Blanc, shares a few easy, step-by-step instructions on how to transition your work hair into an effortlessly stylish updo.
And just to recap, here's a breakdown of the steps:
You'll need: flat iron, hairpins, hair band, brush, work-in spray, finishing spray
1) Brush your hair out and add a light amount of work-in, texturizing spray.
2) Part your hair front to back where it normally parts. Then part it again two inches back from your forehead perpendicular to your normal part (going from your part to your ear). This section you will leave out of the updo, so pull it forward and out of the way.
3) Pull the rest of your hair back into a low side ponytail.
4) Divide the ponytail into two sections and loosely braid both sections. Wrap the first section around the base of the ponytail, securing with hairpins. Wrap the second section around the first, securing with hairpins as well. Try to run the hairpins through the ponytail holder to really secure the braids.
5) Using a flatiron grab the bottom of the front section you originally left out and roll the flat iron up your hair (like you would a curling iron). Release the curl and lightly spray on finishing spray.
