Unsolicited Radio Advice for KPOI

We have been totally digging KPOI’s eclectic mix of ’80s and early ’90s music. It takes us back to the good old days, when KPOI—then known as 98 Rock—would string together music from such disparate acts as The Police, Thomas Dolby and Ozzy Osbourne. KPOI has even done something we didn’t think an ’80s nostalgia station could do—surprise us with songs we somehow missed back in the day, such as “Everywhere That I’m Not,” released by Translator in 1982.

But KPOI, would it kill you to hire some DJs? As fun as your playlists are, they feel robotic, and they aren’t anything we couldn’t do ourselves with our iPods and spotify.com accounts. What we’re missing is a voice between the songs, a presence, a spirit guide through the wilds of nostalgia to let us know that, yes, this really is a local radio station that cares about us. You are KPOI, remember? Home of the original Poi Boys, your groundbreaking, founding disc jockeys. Live your legacy!
