Painted louvers, hemline stiffeners, bikini waxes, and foot scrubs. None of these things are much like the other, yet they’re still randomly collected here in your inbox. Why? Duh – they’ve all been featured in Lei Chic.

But we’re not the only ones with a knack for bringing extraordinary things together. The eclectic items at Kaua‘i’s Nest boutique may also seem accidentally composed, but they have two very important elements in common: 1) Everything in the store is handpicked by owner Julia Holman (also a jeweler, artist, acupuncturist and massage therapist), and 2) they’re handmade in small batches by artists from Hawai‘i, the mainland, and around the globe.

Holman modeled Nest after the hip boutiques she’s discovered and loved on her world travels, creating a cozy sanctuary where you can discover original, hard to find accessories, objects, art and fashion you know you won’t see on every Tina, Daisy and Harriet. Things like organic clothing, artisan soaps, wall graphics, Wings Hawai‘i wares, adorable acrylic shrinky-dink rings, letterpress cards, Faith hats, Eggling plant kits, hand-knit toys, funky journals, blown glass, and yes – more.

The random-nest of the selection is unique, unusual, and utterly cool. And nothing at all like the others.
