Tour Royal Hawaiian Center's newly renovated hot spots
Change of Place (Sponsored)

We are addicted to home renovation shows. When we see two weary homeowners going from room to room gasping in amazement at the shiny, new fixtures and designer-caliber decor, we can't help but feel a little giddy ourselves.
And also crazy jealous we don't live there.
Thank goodness we don't have that problem at Royal Hawaiian Center. Okay, so we can't actually live in the three-block shopping, dining and entertainment complex, but playing there? Totally fair game. And after five months of renovations, there's a lot to play in!

Our first reveal: Royal Grove, which is now even more of an oasis from the bustle of Kalakaua Ave. Note how the stone walkway transforms seamlessly into a wooden bridge, guiding you over a lush, new water feature filled with lily pads and taro plants. Peruse the native Hawaiian plants and cultural signs that tell the story of Ka‘auhelemoa, a supernatural rooster, or Oahu's ruling chiefs. Then, have a seat. Chances are you'll enjoy any number of live performances offered on the new main stage (now lit from above and below for dramatic effect) from nightly live music by Kawaika Trask or Sean Na‘auao to semi-monthly concerts by the Royal Hawaiian Band. [View the full schedule here.]
Now, pick your jaw off the floor and make your way to our next reveal: Helumoa Hale, a state-of-the-art building dedicated to guest services and cultural education. Stop in for a film screening on the legend and heritage of Helumoa or take in a lecture on contemporary Hawaiian culture. Don't have a lot of time? Simply browse the gorgeous collection of historic photos as you take a quick breather from your shopping marathon.
Or, as we call it in home renovation show terms: a commercial break.
