enowned eye surgeon Dr. Pierre Pang still practices the old-school style of patient care. He methodically and skillfully identifies individual problems to find solutions for even the most complex disorders affecting a patient’s vision. Both his Kalihi and Waipahu offices are equipped with state-of-the art scans, ultrasound machines, cameras and lasers.
Dr. Pang treats potentially blinding diseases such as retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and retinal vein occlusions, as well as general eye disorders such as complex cataracts needing special treatment for astigmatism. For patients unable to see clearly, he offers state-of-the art femto laser cataract surgery with multifocal intraocular lenses, which reduces one’s dependence on glasses.
As a John A. Burns School of Medicine faculty member, Dr. Pang has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in prestigious ophthalmology journals, lectured at local and international eye meetings, earned the American Society of Retinal Specialists’ distinguished Rhett Buckler’s Award for Best Surgical Video, and pioneered innovative techniques for managing dislocated intraocular lenses, ophthalmic anesthesia and complications of diabetic retinopathy.
Always attentive, Dr. Pang and his staff go the extra mile to ensure patients fully understand their conditions and treatment options and receive the best eye care possible.
