Going above and beyond patient expectations is how Dr. Nancy Chen approaches eye care as Kapolei’s first and only ophthalmologist. With 15 years of practice experience, she is a medically trained professional committed to meticulous and personalized eye care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
“I look at the whole eye, its overall structure and function, and beyond to what’s around the eyes to provide the best outcomes for my patients,” says Dr. Chen, whose training after medical school includes research fellowships at USC’s Doheny Eye Institute, Center for Sight at Washington at Georgetown School of Medicine, and ophthalmology residency at University of Texas Health Science Center.
As a licensed eye physician and surgeon, Dr. Chen specializes in cataract refractive surgery, which decreases the need for glasses after cataract surgery. Skilled in the latest technologies and leading edge equipment, she has also gained recognition in treating ptosis, a drooping of the upper eyelid that can restrict and even block normal vision.
“Eyes are one of the first things that age. Rejuvenating your eyes and your skin allows you to see and look your best,” says Dr. Chen as founder of Pua Manu MedSpa, which offers cosmetic procedures and progressive anti-aging laser technologies for the eyes and skin.
Honored with health care awards and respected for her national publications in ophthalmology, Dr. Chen is active in community service and is proudest of her sponsorship of EyeCare America’s Senior Program that assists elderly who cannot afford their copayments.
