Great Chefs Fight Hunger

VIP tickets are already sold out to Hawaii Foodbank’s fundraiser for the Island’s hungry, but you can still pick up a $150 general admission ticket that gives you a pass to taste wine and food from 26 Island chefs. There’ll be everything from kim chee pork belly lettuce wrap to smoked local Madre chocolate flan drizzled with kau orange caramel, so bring an empty stomach.

2013 aio Hawaii State Spelling Bee

Billabong, whortleberry, Bildungsroman. Those are some of the words last year’s spelling bee contestants had to spell. This year, watch or listen to elementary, intermediate and middle school students test their memory of the English vocabulary.

Night in Bali

If you’ve never been to Indonesia, this Leeward Community College stage production will transport you there, at least in spirit. You’ll get a taste of Balinese arts from Gamelan musicians, dancers shadow puppetry and colorful Indonesian costumes. It’s an interactive show; so the audience will get to sit on stage, ask questions and cheer on the performers.
