Time for Young Chefs to Shine at Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival

(Sponsored) Cooking Classes & Recipe Contest at Keiki in the Kitchen®

The Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival is cooking up something special for children age 5 and up who love to cook. Cooking classes have just been added to the Festival’s family focused event, HMAA Presents Keiki in the Kitchen® on Sunday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. at Bishop Museum.

Attendees at the ‘Roberts Hawaii School Bus presents Keiki Cooking Classes’ will make a chocolate, peanut butter and banana Chunky Monkey tart and a savory turkey turnover. Cooking classes are $30 and spaces are limited. That covers the $5 event entrance fee and a Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival embroidered Chef Works apron.

The Festival is also on the hunt for the best local recipes by students in grades 4–12 for the Hawaii Gas Presents Localicious Recipe Contest. The top three finalists will prepare and present their dishes live to celebrity chef judges. The winner in the grade 4–8 category receives a two-night stay at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa. The Grade 9-12 champion wins a two-night stay at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa and a $500 cash scholarship.

The first 1,000 children at Keiki in the Kitchen will receive a free cupcake to decorate with Food Network star Duff Goldman. To buy a ticket or to sign up for the recipe contest or cooking classes, go to www.HFWF.me.
