Thursday, March 24 – It's a Gas
The second aid shipment from my cousin’s company arrived yesterday afternoon at their Izumi Chuo location. I have no idea what to expect because three different people contributed items to the box – my cousin, the person at her company who is coordinating the emergency delivery and the branch manager who is receiving the box in Sendai. I will drive there this morning to get the aid shipment. Fortunately, my mom’s car has some gas left.
Speaking of gas, a neighbor told me yesterday that he saw a tanker truck at a nearby gas station. He thinks the station will start selling gas today but the lines will be quite long. People already began lining up yesterday afternoon.
I will visit my mom at the hospital after getting the aid shipment.
The Stars and Stripes reporting team is still here. I offered them the use of my mom’s house as their base because I did not want my friend, who is their interpreter, spending the night in a cold evacuation center. Today is the third consecutive day they have stayed with me. They left around 6:30 a.m. to begin their quake relief coverage.
