This week, Alan Wong’s Next Generation dinner features the women of the eponymous King Street restaurant: sous chef Kelly Kawachi, chef de partie Donna Famisan, chef de partie Nohea Nebeker, pastry chef de partie Tracy Paulson and mixologist Mayumi Tano. They have created a special menu with Keahole lobster “Kokoda,” shrimp and chicken lumpia with sweet chili vinaigrette, pan-seared salmon, crispy house made chicharron, Wagyu beef ribeye and a strawberry-coconut semifreddo.

Japanese boy band Arashi

Arashi, a Japanese five-member boy band, was initially formed in Hawai‘i in September, 1999. Now it’s back to its hometown for a 15th anniversary concert at Kō ‘Olina Resort, with two evening performances fronting the lagoon. The mega-popular group has won 22 Japan Gold Disk awards and two Billboard Japan awards.

Art Galore at Honolulu Night Market

This month’s Night Market partners with Present Project, a month-long artist residency program. Artists from around the country have taken over two Kakaʻako warehouses and filled them with art. In addition to checking out that overload of creativity, there’ll also be the usual Night Market food, fashion show and music. Look out for farm-fresh food vendors serving up beer-battered fish tacos, apple-banana malasadas, sushi sliders, and the Night Market debut of beverage company Organika Hawai‘i.

Get lost in the crowds at the Aloha Festivals’ 62nd Annual Waikīkī Ho'olaule'a

Thousands will be roaming Kalākaua Avenue for this annual block party—and ultimate people-watching event—that celebrates the aloha spirit and Hawaiian culture. Meander through the crowds, sample the food, and watch hula halau and Hawai‘ian music entertainers Mailani, Maunalua and Kapena, among others.

Take a jog in the park for JDRF Hawai‘i at Ward Village’s NiteRun
