The Tap Project

Hale Aina Award-winning restaurants Duke’s Waikiki, Big City Diner, Hiroshi Eurasion Tapas and Tiki’s Grill & Bar will be participating in the Unicef Tap Project during World Water Week, from March 21 to 27, 2010.

The restaurants who participate invite their diners to donate $1 or more for the tap water they usually enjoy for free. The funds raised are donated to Unicef to aid their mission of bringing clean and accessible water to millions of children in under developed area.

In addition to raising these funds, the Tap Project was created to raise awareness of the world’s water crisis. It started in 2007 in New York with 300 restaurants participating and since has expanded to thousands of restaurants throughout the country.

Each $1 that is donated can provide one child access to safe, clean water for 40 days.

“Duke’s Waikiki is proud to be a Tap Project participating restaurant,” said Ross Anderson, senior general manager at Duke’s Waikiki. “This simple concept provides our guests an easy way to help bring clean and safe water to kids around the world.”
