The Missed List – August 2012

The weekend is so close, you can almost taste it; and once it's here, you'll luxuriate in not two, but three long, labor-free days.

That's plenty of time to throw a barbecue or two, watch the Warriors take on the Trojans, and catch up on any Lei Chics you may have missed this month.

Not necessarily in that order.

Lei Chic

Brew on This
This drive-thru coffee shop in Kailua is steaming up with strong, smooth illy espresso drinks whipped up by Suzanne Pregitzer and Cassandra Guard. Along with frequent Facebook specials, the duo just revamped the pastry menu to include homemade chocolate chip and zucchini, and orange and strawberry muffins ($1.50 each), sticky buns ($2.75) and glazed donut muffins ($1.50).
Feel free to take a test drive.

Lei Chic Whim Pickings
The fall/holiday collection for new local line 19th and Whimsy hits stores early next month. Designer Lauren Hayashibara is rolling out new seahorse, ribbon and mahi mahi-inspired prints, mixed with metallic sheens and bright knits. Her gauzy racerback dress features a removable cowl neck scarf secured with a gold rose button, perfect for holiday parties.
Start mingling.
Lei Chic Perfectly Suited
Kaimana Beachwear is adding more bikinis to its archive and showroom; hitting the floor next week: lightning-inspired chevron stripes, new batik prints and bohemian ruffles. More than 20 one-of-a-kind sample bikinis are now going for $25-$50, and the company is planning a big fashion show at the end of the year. Stay tuned for details.
Time to suit up.
