The Gift of Fab

Lei ChicYou’re a student of fashion and you’ve been working hard on your unofficial coursework.

LogicThis will actually save me money because it’s better to buy one great top than 15 cheap ones that fall apart.

MathIf I strap on those Chloe wedges once a week, and twice on weekends, the price is really only $10 a wear.

PhilosophyIf the bag is in the car trunk and the credit card bill isn’t due for weeks, did I really buy anything at all?

You’ve amassed the wardrobe of a model student but flunked attempts to ease your shoppers’ guilt.

It’s time to start a new study in Philanthropy.

Lei ChicPhilanthropy by Madison & Co. just quietly reopened in Kailua. The spot on Hoolai Street is a new location, but the boutique still features owner Nikki Watanabe’s signature selection of fun finds for your closet and kitchen. Choose from colorful Audrey tops and sexy, draped back mini dresses by Maui’s Haute Rock Couture or pick up cabernet-infused sea salts and whimsical Hawaiian-print aprons handmade on Molokai.

Watanabe’s passion is not just for fashion. Her unique Craft Conscience Couture parties combine shopping with charitable donations. Book a private event at the store, and for as little as $20 a person, guests will receive refreshments, learn a fun craft such as making cute earrings or knitting adorable scarves, then shop. Madison & Co will donate 25 percent of sales to a non-profit of your choice.

So it's simple to make the style grade without having to make excuses.

And that's easy giving.

Philanthropy by Madison & Co. is open on 45 Hoolai St. in Kailua, Tues. – Sat., 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. The Waipio location at 94-1235 Ka Uka Blvd. (next to Costco) is open Tues. – Sat, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
