The Final Skyline
I never had a chance to write about Skyline, because I was holding out for a night when it would be packed. With Hush, Level 4, Bonsai and Ocean’s opening and, a slump in the economy, that was looking doubtful—and, then F&M gave the news that Skyline was ending after five years.
However, I did make it to the final Skyline on January 17, 2009 at the Sheraton Waikiki’s Hanohano Room, and it was more than packed—over capacity, more like it. Towards midnight, they were turning people away and even those with tables had to wait for people to exit, before they were let inside. Once inside, you understood why.
People were everywhere! They were crowding the bar, dancing on the floor, huddling around tables and, most of all, having a great time. This is the way Skyline was always meant to be.
Check out the video I took from the final Skyline, above.
