Because kapa is made from organic materials, it’s susceptible to bugs, mold, light and pollutants and requires careful storage and display. This exhibit will showcase delicate work by contemporary kapa practitioners, including Marie McDonald, whose Untitled is shown here.

This Wai‘anae farm hosts an annual festival and seed and plant exchange to get the community more involved with local agriculture. There will also be live music, workshops, games, food and crafts. Call 696-2655 if you’re interested in helping out.

Honolulu Ekiden and Music Festival

The first ekiden race in Japan went from Kyoto (the old capital) to Tokyo (the new capital). The Honolulu Ekiden continues the tradition of a marathon-length relay race, this year with a music festival featuring Hiromi Go, MAGIC! and SCANDAL at the end of it. Register by May 16 for a discount on registration.
