Come watch some of Hawai‘i’s most hardcore athletes, along with qualifying teams from out of state, compete in six fitness events over two days. (Day Two is at the Blaisdell; Sept. 3, Day One, will feature a free swim-and-run competition at Kailua Beach Park from 7 to 10 a.m) It’s basically CrossFit for charity.

Explore the cultural and natural significance of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, from the Battle of Midway to endemic species to places of religious rites. One of the highlights of the exhibit is a set of stone figures from Mokumanamana, the second-smallest island, which is covered with dozens of heiau.

Hawai‘i’s Woodshow

Come see gorgeous wood sculptures, furniture, instruments and other artwork made from Hawai‘i-grown trees. Because of its rapid decline in the wild, ‘ōhi‘a lehua is no longer allowed to be used in the show, along with other rare, endangered and lesser-known trees.

Hawai‘i State Numismatic Association Coin Show

This year’s theme is “Pearl Harbor 75^th Anniversary Commemoration,” so be on the lookout for cool coins, stamps, postcards and other collectible items reflecting that era. Even if you’re not planning on attending the show, if you find a dollar bill on O‘ahu marked with “HSNA” on the back, it could be worth big bucks—a $500 gift certificate to the show for the first one found, $200 for the next, and $100 each for the next three. There are 100 marked bills in circulation, so good luck!
