Hula Girl Festival

There are plenty of local hula festivals, but this new one celebrates hula dancers (and musicians) from Japan. We’re especially excited for the comedy hula exhibition.

Hawai‘i’s Woodshow

September 17 through October 2

Come see gorgeous wood sculptures, furniture, instruments and other artwork made from Hawai‘i-grown trees. Because of its rapid decline in the wild, ‘ōhi‘a lehua is no longer allowed to be used in the show, along with other rare, endangered and lesser-known trees.

Free, Honolulu Museum of Art School, woodshow.hawaiiforest.org

FAIRS & EXPOS

Hawai‘i State Numismatic Association Coin Show

September 23 to 25

This year’s theme is “Pearl Harbor 75th Anniversary Commemoration,” so be on the lookout for cool coins, stamps, postcards and other collectible items reflecting that era. Even if you’re not planning on attending the show, if you find a dollar bill on O‘ahu marked with “HSNA” on the back, it could be worth big bucks—a $500 gift certificate to the show for the first one found, $200 for the next, and $100 each for the next three. There are 100 marked bills in circulation, so good luck!

Free, noon to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Hawai‘i Convention Center Room 316, hawaiicollectibles.org
