The 6 Most Fashionable Ways to Spend Your Weekend
Lei Chic's shopping, eating and sales picks for the best of the weekend.
SHOP
Garden Party

What: If Pinterest were a store, and if that store were located in Kāhala Mall, it would totally be Magnolia. Which is enough of a reason to visit there any day of the week, but especially when the store is hosting a trunk show for local fashion designers. Check out new pieces by the store’s best-selling artist Elizabeth Kent, who creates scarves from vintage kimonos. Bev Creamer, who crafts statement jewelry, will also be featured.
When: Saturday, Oct. 4, noon–4 p.m.
Where: Magnolia, Kāhala Mall, near Macy’s
Details: Kāhala Mall’s last sidewalk sale of 2014 will be happening concurrently. Get your wallets ready.
EAT
Flea Smitten
What: In case you didn’t know Mililani was named an All-America City of 1986, now you do. Another blast from the past from the central plains? Art and Flea is hosting a Salute Your Shorts-themed food and shopping event, inspired by the awesome ’90s TV show, in Mililani this weekend. We’re talking Papa Dogs, Aloha Pops, Olay’s Thai, Bonfire Pizza and more.
When: Saturday, Oct. 5, 4–9 p.m.
Where: Mililani Recreation Center 5, 95-1101 Ainamakua Drive
Details: We love this roundup of old Salute Your Shorts clips. Watch it to get in the mood!
WATCH
Go Psycho

What: The Annabelle trailer has already given us a couple sleepless nights and those Saw monstrosities make us feel like gagging. No, our idea of a spooktacular, October-appropriate flick is definitely something from the Master of Suspense himself, Alfred Hitchcock. Ward Theatres is on board too: Every Thursday this month, it will be showing one of his classics, starting with today’s eerie avian tale The Birds.
When: Thursday, Oct. 2, 7 p.m.
Where: Consolidated Ward 16 Theatres, Ward Center
Details: $7
SUPPORT
Walk It Out
What: Look, you need to finally cross that “exercise” point off your to-do list (it’s been there for weeks!), and what better reason than for a good cause? This weekend, Making Strides of Honolulu will be hosting a non-competitive (thank you), short (phew) walk to show support and solidarity for the survivors of breast cancer. That’s just 5 kilometers of walking and a suggested donation of your choice to start the weekend off feeling awesome from the inside out. Not a bad deal.
When: Saturday, Oct. 4, 7–8 a.m.
Where: Richardson Field, 500 Salt Lake Blvd., ‘Aiea
Details: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so wear pink!

Paper Woman
What: We drool over Rifle Paper Co. stationery the way other people drool over food. Cute, whimsical cards, fun travel-themed calendars—even gorgeous floral tattoos? Swoon. That’s why we’re going totally bonkers over these preview images released last month from the Brooklyn-based company’s collab with Lauren Conrad’s Paper Crown clothing line. An apparel collection featuring Rifle Paper Co. patterns is almost more than our little hearts can take.
When: The collection is set to come out next spring.
Where: laurenconrad.com
Details: There will also be a coordinating paper collection. The girly girl in all of us just died of happiness.
SHOP
Morning, Sunshine
What: Two is always better than one, whether they’re dresses, cocktails or meals. This Saturday, we’ll be having our fave double-decker meal of the day—brunch!—at the First Saturday Morning Special happening in Kaka'ako. Score your requisite mimosa from Quince for freeeeeee and fill up on Snackbox’s guest chef Emily Perkins’ southern food. And talk about two in one: PAD Hawai'i is having a clearance sale. You’re welcome.
When: Saturday, Oct. 5, 10:30 a.m.—3 p.m.
Where: Auahi Street, between Cooke and Coral streets
Details: Go to ourkakaako.com for more information and updates.
