The 6 Best Ways to Shop and Play This Weekend

Lei Chic’s guide to the weekend’s best events.

Asia Major

What: Alerting all style hunters: There’s a new little boutique secret nestled in the hubbub of the Ke‘eaumoku area. Arario opened at the end of December and is toting enough trendy finds to become one of your new favorite stops. It even carries a wide array of Korean clothing brands. Walk in to dig up something chic or pop over to the store’s Instagram for a taste of the urban, contemporary pieces on stock. We are in love with the camo clutch, and, that ombre windowpane blouse? Need.
Where: 745 Ke‘eaumoku St., across from Sorabol
Details: Prices start as low as $20.

Boy's Club

What: We Are Iconic, one of our favorite boutiques filled with contemporary street wear for a chic Honolulu lifestyle, is showing the lads some love by expanding into menswear. We are already over the moon for the metropolitan tastes of owners Nate and Shie Clark, so we’ll be sure to drag our boys over soon for a little style update. Currently, the duo is stocking NSF from L.A. (We Are Iconic is its only retailer in Hawai‘i), effortlessly cool Scotch & Soda from Amsterdam and CLOSED from Hamburg. Look for even more snazzy duds for the dudes in the near future.
Where: We Are Iconic, 1236 Waimanu St.
Details: Call 462-4575 for more details.

Crew Cuts

What: There may or may not be a hopeless J.Crew addict in our office, which means we may or may not get a hefty dose of the brand’s stylish, hodgepodge flair on the daily. Now that we’ve managed to get a peek at the J.Crew fall 2015 collection, we can’t wait to feast our eyes on these fun, festive pieces from across our cubicles. Think super-cheery, of-the-moment yellow separates, equally trendy ’70s-esque details and South American-inspired touches with a dash of glitzy embellishments. It’s a crazy mixing bowl of chic, per usual, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
When: Available in stores tomorrow
Where: J.Crew, Ala Moana Center
Details: Check out the collection here.

Street Style

What: Pow! Wow! Hawai‘i is merging its hip, street-art vibe with local fashion in one of the best combos to happen since Spam and rice. Occurring through Feb. 28 at T Galleria, this pop-up event celebrating Hawai‘i street art and fashion will feature local artists doing a live painting of the Pow! Wow! Hawai‘i truck. Oh, and the truck will turn into a pop-up store featuring limited-edition products from local brands such as Roberta Oaks, in4mation and Fitted. NBD, just the coolest thing ever.
When: Through Feb. 28, 11 a.m.–10:30 p.m. daily
Where: T Galleria, 330 Royal Hawaiian Ave., first floor walkway
Details: Don’t worry, your coffee needs will be met: Brue Bar is setting up a space, and baked goods from Agnes Bake Shop will be available.

Drive By

What: Because we are total suckers for tea, bicycles and dapperness galore, we are in love with the Royal Hawaiian Tweed Ride. Bring your bikes and your best retro duds for this leisurely four-mile romp through downtown, which will begin at The Manifest and end at the Ala Wai Community Park for tea. Who the Dickens knows, you may even win one of the distinguished awards being offered, which include “The Marvelous Moustache Award,” “The Hotsy Totsy Hosiery Award” and the “Smashingest Tea Cup Award.”
When: Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2:30–5 p.m.
Where: Meet at The Manifest. The ride ends at Ala Wai Community Park.
Details: BYOP, TC, S & S (picnic, teacup, saucer and spoon) if you are so inclined. Tea will be provided.

Make and Take

What: You’re starting to gear up for spring cleaning—and what better place to start than your jewelry box? Maybe you’re looking to ditch that  “statement” necklace from last year that has not aged gracefully, or the Christmas gift from Granny, who has a seriously different idea of what’s trendy right now. Either way, MORI Hawai‘i’s Save+Remake workshop with Emiko Miyazawa from M33Ms jewelry will help you learn the jewelry-making tenets (including wire-wrapping and metal basics) required to upcycle those bad boys into something stylish.
When: Sunday, Feb. 22, noon–3 p.m.
Where: MORI by Art+Flea, Ward Village Shops near The Face Shop
Details: $40. Basic tools, beads and wire are provided, but students are required to bring in their own old jewelry materials. Sign up at artandflea.com.
