Playwright Victor Rodger’s Hawai‘i premiere of My Name is Gary Cooper is at Kumu Kahua Theatre on Thursday. The play focuses on the theme of race and racism by showing how Hollywood movies have created Pacific Islander stereotypes.

Sharon’s Ride, Run, Walk

Support the Epilepsy Foundation of Hawai‘i at the 13th annual Sharon’s Ride.Run.Walk for Epilepsy, which starts at Kapi‘olani Community College. Choose to participate in one of these events: a 100 km bike ride, a 75 km bike ride, a 35 km bike ride, a keiki bike safety course, a 10 km run, a 5 km run or a 1 mile walk. With events for every skill level, there’s no reason not to sign up.

His wife, soprano Marjorie Owens, joins him as they perform arias and selections from Mascagni, Verdi, Leoncavalla, Massenet and Wagner.

Bishop Museum Celebrates Charles Reed Bishop

Charles Reed Bishop’s birthday is this Sunday, and the Bishop Museum is celebrating by giving free admission to kama‘āina and military with valid ID. There will also be a special program beginning at 11 a.m. in Hawaiian Hall that includes an oli and hula.
